It covers wages, allowances, penalty rates, leave entitlements, and other employment conditions.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"title-idx-1\" class=\"icon-anchor\">Who is covered by the Gardening and Landscaping Services Award ?<\/h2>\n<h3>Coverage<\/h3>\n<p>The Gardening and Landscaping Award covers employers and employees in the gardening and landscaping industry.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The gardening and landscaping industry means:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">designing, preparing and installing: pavements, landscape features, associated lawns and gardens in parklands, public domain and recreational areas<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">maintenance or horticultural establishment work<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">laying-out, constructing, cultivating or keeping in order gardens in connection with private houses<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">landscape and environmental rehabilitation and restoration work on private or public lands, or<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">preparing and maintaining gardens and grounds, including turf and renovation related works in sports fields.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Examples of employees covered by the Gardening and Landscaping Award include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">general labourers<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">experienced plant and lawn maintenance employees<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">employees who operate lawn mowers, edger&#8217;s and rotary hoes<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">tradespersons<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">employees qualified with a certificate III in Parks and Gardens, Landscaping and Greenkeeping<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">horticulture specialists.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Gardening and Landscaping Award covers labour hire businesses and their employees placed in the gardening and landscaping industry.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The following employers and employees are not covered by the Gardening and Landscaping Services Award :<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Aged Care Award<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Amusement Award<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Building and Construction Award<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Cemetery Award<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Educational Services (Schools) General Staff Award<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Health Services Award<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Local Government Award<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Racing Ground Maintenance Award<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Registered Clubs Award<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Source: <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/library.fairwork.gov.au\/award\/?krn=MA000101\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gardening and Landscaping Services Award [MA000101] clause 2 and schedule A<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"title-idx-2\" class=\"icon-anchor\">How are the hours of work arranged in the Gardening and Landscaping Services Award\u00a0 ?<\/h2>\n<h3>Ordinary hours of work<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">The ordinary working hours are 38 hours per week, which can be averaged over a 4-week cycle.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Work is allowed between 6.00 am and 6.00 pm on weekdays, and until 12.00 noon on Saturdays.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Maximum of 10 hours can be worked per day.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Rostered days off can be implemented with agreed methods, and up to 10 days can be accumulated and taken at an agreed time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Breaks<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Meal breaks: Employees must have an unpaid meal break of at least 30 minutes within 5 hours of starting work. If they work through the meal break, they must be paid at 150% of the ordinary hourly rate until they receive their break.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Overtime breaks: Employees working overtime are entitled to a paid 20-minute break after every 4 hours of overtime. If overtime exceeds 1.5 hours, they must have a paid 20-minute meal break before starting overtime.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Rest breaks: Employees have a paid 10-minute rest break each morning or at an appropriate time, with the possibility of additional unpaid rest breaks agreed upon between the employer and employee.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"title-idx-3\" class=\"icon-anchor\">How are wages determined by the National Employment Standards (<span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fwc.gov.au\/documents\/awards\/resources\/nes.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NES<\/a><\/span>) and the classification of the employee.<\/p>\n<h3>Annual leave<\/h3>\n<p>Annual leave is provided for in the <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color:
