award.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"title-idx-0\" class=\"icon-anchor\">What is the Plumbing and Fire Sprinklers Award?<\/h2>\n<p>The Plumbing and Fire Sprinklers Award is a set of legal minimum employment standards and conditions that apply to employees working in the plumbing and\/or fire sprinkler fitting services industry in Australia.<\/p>\n<p>The award sets out the minimum wage rates, working hours, overtime, annual leave, sick leave, and other entitlements for employees working in various roles within the plumbing and\/or fire sprinkler fitting services industry, such as plumber&#8217;s laborers and sprinkler fitter\u2019s assistants,qualified plumbers and gasfitters,apprentice plumbers and gasfitters<\/p>\n<p>sprinkler fitter tradespersons.The award is designed to ensure that employees in the plumbing and\/or fire sprinkler fitting services industry are treated fairly and receive reasonable pay and conditions for their work.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"title-idx-1\" class=\"icon-anchor\">Who is covered by the Plumbing and Fire Sprinklers Award?<\/h2>\n<h3>Coverage<\/h3>\n<p>The Plumbing Award covers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">employers and their employees in the plumbing and\/or fire sprinkler fitting services industry<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">employers employing plumbing or fire sprinkler fitting employees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Plumbing services include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">plumbing<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">gas fitting<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">roof plumbing<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">lead burning<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">ship plumbing<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">heating, air-conditioning or ventilation plumbing<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">irrigation installing<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">pipe-fitting<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">domestic engineering work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The plumbing industry also includes any work in or in connection with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">sheet lead, galvanised iron, other types of sheet metal or any other materials usually fixed by plumbers<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">lead, wrought, cast or sheet iron, copper, brass or other classes of pipework<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">water (hot and cold), steam, gas, air, vacuum, heating or ventilation applications, fittings, services or installations<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">house, ship, sanitary, chemical or general plumbing or draining and irrigation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Fire sprinkler fitting services means work on automatic fire sprinkler extinguishers and\/or other fire protection systems such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">erecting, fitting, fixing, altering, inspecting, testing, maintaining, retrofitting, overhauling or repairing apparatus, pipes and\/or fittings in and\/or outside of:<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">buildings<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">ships<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">other structures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Fire sprinkler fitting services means work on automatic fire sprinkler extinguishers and\/or other fire protection systems such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">erecting, fitting, fixing, altering, inspecting, testing, maintaining, retrofitting, overhauling or repairing apparatus, pipes and\/or fittings in and\/or outside of:<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">buildings<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">ships<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">other structures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Examples of employers and employees covered by the Plumbing Award include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">plumber&#8217;s labourers and sprinkler fitter\u2019s assistants<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">qualified plumbers and gasfitters<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">apprentice plumbers and gasfitters<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">irrigation installers<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">fire technicians<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">sprinkler fitter tradespersons.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"title-idx-2\" class=\"icon-anchor\">How are the hours of work arranged in the Plumbing and Fire Sprinklers Award?<\/h2>\n<h3>Ordinary hours of work<\/h3>\n<p>The average ordinary hours worked will be 38 per week for a 4 week work cycle.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Ordinary working hours will be worked in a 20 day, 4 week cycle, Monday to Friday inclusive.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">The roster will be comprised of 19 days of 8 hours with 0.4 of one hour each day worked accruing to be paid as a rostered day off (RDO) in each cycle.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Early start and Penalty rates, ordinary hours are worked between 7.00 am and 6.00 pm Monday to Friday inclusive.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Breaks<\/h3>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Unpaid meal breaks<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">An employee will be entitled to an unpaid meal break of at least 30 minutes between noon and 1.00 pm.
