It sets out various entitlements such as minimum wages, working hours, overtime, annual leave, sick leave, and other benefits for employees in different roles within this industry.<\/p>\n<p>The award applies to employers and employees who fall within the classifications defined by the award. The food, beverage, and tobacco manufacturing industry encompasses activities such as food preparation, cooking, beverage production, and tobacco manufacturing.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of the award is to ensure that employees in this industry are treated fairly and receive reasonable pay and working conditions for their contributions.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"title-idx-1\" class=\"icon-anchor\">Who is entitled to the Food, Beverage and Tobacco Manufacturing Award?<\/h2>\n<h3>Coverage<\/h3>\n<p>The Food and Beverage Manufacturing Award covers employers in the food, beverage and tobacco manufacturing industry and their employees who fit within the classifications of the award.<\/p>\n<p>The food, beverage and tobacco manufacturing industry means:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">preparing<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">cooking<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">baking<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">blending<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">brewing<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">fermenting<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">preserving<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">filleting<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">gutting<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">freezing<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">milling of food, beverage and tobacco products, including stock feed and pet food.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It also includes related activities such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">receiving, storing and handling of ingredients and raw materials used to make food, beverage and tobacco products<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">bottling, canning, packaging, labelling, palletising, storing, packing, despatching and preparing the products for sale<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">cleaning and sanitising of tools, equipment and machinery used to make the products.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Examples of employees and employers covered by the Food and Beverage Manufacturing Award include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">food processers<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">qualified tradespersons in food processing<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">producers of bottled water intended for human consumption<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">production workers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Food and Beverage Manufacturing Award also covers labour hire businesses and their employees who are placed within the food, beverage and tobacco industry.<\/p>\n<h3>Types of employment<\/h3>\n<p>An employee covered by this award must be one of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">A full-time employee, unless specified otherwise, refers to any employee who is not classified as a part-time or casual employee within this award.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">A part-time employee must work a minimum of 4 consecutive hours per day or shift. However, under certain circumstances, a part-time employee may request and the employer may agree to an engagement for no less than 3 consecutive hours per day or shift. If such an agreement is reached, the employer must record it on the employee&#8217;s time and wages record.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">A casual employee who is engaged on an irregular or intermittent basis, with no expectation of ongoing employment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>The Award does not generally cover<\/h3>\n<p>The following employers and employees are not covered by the Food and Beverage Manufacturing Award:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">retail bakeries<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">sales representatives or salespersons<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">clerical and administrative workers<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">mechanical fitters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Food and Beverage Manufacturing Award doesn&#8217;t cover employers and employees when they are covered by one of the following awards:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Clerks Award<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Fast Food Award<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Retail Award<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Horticulture Award<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Hospitality Award<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Manufacturing Award<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Meat Award<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Poultry Award<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Seafood Award<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Wine Award.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"title-idx-2\" class=\"icon-anchor\">How is the shiftwork arranged in the Food, Beverage and Tobacco Manufacturing Award?<\/h2>\n<h3>Hours of Work<\/h3>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td colspan=\"2\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Ordinary hours of work<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td rowspan=\"6\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Dayworkers<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Average of 38 hours per week, not exceeding 152 hours in 28 days.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Maximum 8 hours per day, unless otherwise agreed in accordance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Can be worked on any day of the week, including weekends, subject to agreement between the employer and the majority of of the employer, ordinary hours for continuous shiftworkers must average 38 hours per week, inclusive of meal breaks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">The total ordinary hours must not exceed 152 hours in 28 consecutive days.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Each shift must not exceed 8 hours, unless otherwise
