It covers various classifications of employees, including those involved in banking, lending, and other related activities within the industry.<\/p>\n<p>The award ensures that employers and employees comply with the established regulations and provides a framework for fair and consistent employment practices in the banking, finance, and insurance sector.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"title-idx-1\" class=\"icon-anchor\">Who is entitled to the Banking, Finance and Insurance Award?<\/h2>\n<h3>Coverage<\/h3>\n<p>The Banking, Finance and Insurance Award [MA000019] covers employers and employees in the banking, finance, and insurance industry who fall within the classifications outlined in the award. This includes a wide range of occupations and services related to banking, lending, credit provision, investment services, finance, superannuation, insurance, credit unions, building societies, financial intermediaries, trustee creditors and agencies, money market dealers, credit or charge card institutions, wool broking, and agribusiness.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the award extends its coverage to services provided to the aforementioned industries, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">broking<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">trading<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">debt recovery<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">financial consulting<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">valuation<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">money changing<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">data processing<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">transaction accounts<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">telephone enquiries and<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">transaction processing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Banking, Finance and Insurance Award also encompasses labour hire businesses and their employees who are placed with an organisation operating in the banking, finance, and insurance industry.<\/p>\n<h3>Types of employment<\/h3>\n<p>An employee covered by this award must be one of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">A full-time employee who is engaged to work an average of 38 ordinary hours per week.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">A part-time employee who is engaged to work fewer than 38 ordinary hours per week is entitled to receive pay and conditions equivalent to those of full-time employees performing the same kind of work, calculated on a pro rata basis.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">A casual employee who is engaged to work has flexible and irregular hours of work as required by the employer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>The Award does not generally cover<\/h3>\n<p>The Banking, Finance and Insurance Award does not cover accountants employed by accountancy firms.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, it does not cover employers and employees who are already covered by the Contract Call Centres Award.<\/p>\n<p><em>*For more details on coverage and classification descriptions, please refer to <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/library.fairwork.gov.au\/award\/?krn=MA000019\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Banking, Finance and Insurance Award 2010 [MA000019] clauses 2, 4 and schedule A<\/a><\/span>.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"title-idx-2\" class=\"icon-anchor\">How is the shiftwork arranged in the Banking, Finance and Insurance Award ?<\/h2>\n<h3>Hours of Work<\/h3>\n<p>Ordinary hours are worked between 7.00 am to 7.00 pm Monday to Friday, and 8.00 am to 12 noon Saturday, with the possibility of extending the span of ordinary hours until 9.00 pm on one specified night per week from Monday to Friday, as determined by the employer.<\/p>\n<p>The ordinary hours of work, excluding meal breaks, will amount to an average of 38 hours per week. These hours can be allocated based on the following work cycle options:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">38 hours within a one-week work cycle.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">76 hours within a two-week work cycle.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">114 hours within a three-week work cycle.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">152 hours within a four-week work cycle.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The term &#8220;week&#8221; refers to any continuous period of five consecutive days, which can be either Monday to Friday or Monday to Saturday, including half a day on Saturday.<\/p>\n<h3>Breaks<\/h3>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>Meal Breaks<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Meal breaks will be no less than 30 minutes, as determined by the employer.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">An employee will not be required to work more than 5 hours without a meal break. If the daily hours to be worked are 6 hours or less, the employee may choose to work the 6 hours without a meal break by agreement with the employer.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">In emergency situations, a meal break may be postponed by mutual agreement between the employer and the employee.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><strong> Unpaid rest href=\"https:\/\/www.fwc.gov.au\/documents\/awards\/resources\/nes.pdf\">NES<\/a>) and the classification of the employee.<\/p>\n<h3>Annual leave<\/h3>\n<p>In the Banking, Finance, and Insurance Award, annual leave is managed according to the <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fwc.gov.au\/documents\/awards\/resources\/nes.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Employment Standards (NES)<\/a><\/span> and specific provisions in the award.Shiftworkers are entitled to an additional week of annual leave under the NES.<\/p>\n<p>Annual leave loading is paid during the leave period, with specific rates applicable to day work and shiftwork.Day workers receive a loading of 17.5% or the relevant weekend penalty rates, whichever is greater.
